Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American dancer, actress and singer since the early 1990s. Her early Broadway shows included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her role as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has spent her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across stage film and television and she will continue that project with various upcoming ones. Ashford's next venture will be a limited edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently working in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film will stream on Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford is set to return in 2023. He will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), exactly the same group that created Hamilton directed the production. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal that included Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the CBS hit comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Additional Broadway credits are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford is now dividing the time in Los Angeles and New York.
